Dr Rosalind Hastings (C-Grade Clinical Scientist) is the full-time Organiser for the Clinical Cytogenetics scheme. The Organiser is usually available in the office for consultation or enquiries during the week. At other times messages may be left on the ansaphone. The Clinical Cytogenetics Scheme scheme employs a part-time Quality Manager.
The Organiser is assisted by other colleagues drawn from the ranks of practicising senior Clinical Cytogeneticists. Steering Group Members are usually drawn from the senior Principal grade or above (scalepoint 8b) and assessors from the Principal grade or above (scalepoint 8a) Both Steering Group Members and Assessors are required to have MRCPath part 1 or equivalent qualification. Assessors are unpaid appointments for a fixed term. The scheme has a Deputy Organiser who receives an honorarium of £1,000 per annum. The Deputy Organiser advises the Scheme Organiser on the daily running of the scheme and proof reads reports. The Assessors are responsible for scrutinising and assessing technical, analytical and interpretive performance in consultation with the relevant Scheme Organiser and Steering Group Executive (SGE).
The scheme has a Quality manager, Bettina Quellhorst-Pawley. The quality manager is responsible for quality issues including particpant feedback, audit and managment reviews.
