The Clinical Cytogenetics scheme is based at the Women's Centre, John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. The UK NEQAS for Clinical Cytogenetics is administered through the Laboratory of Medicine and Clinical Sciences directorate within the Trust but is independent from pathology services provided by the Trust. The John Radcliffe Hospital is part of the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Trust.

The UK NEQAS for Clinical Cytogenetics relocated to Oxford in 2003 from Birmingham. The scheme has run since 1992 in various Trusts within the UK.
