All EQA providers are required to seek advice from and report to specialist Steering Committees and Advisory Panels, comprising expert professionals in appropriate areas of laboratory work, representatives of professional bodies and fellow organisers.
The Clinical Cytogenetics Scheme has its own Steering Group Committee (SC), chaired by Dr Tony Parkin (Nottingham) which advises and provides support for the Organiser. The Steering Group Executive comprises of the Chair, Secretary, Scheme Organiser and Deputy oversees any discrepant results. The Organiser of the Clinical Cytogenetics Scheme also reports to the National Quality Assurance Advisory Panel (NQAAP) for Genetics chaired by Dr Roger Mountford which is responsible for establishing and monitoring performance standards in UK laboratories. Performance standards of non-UK laboratories is monitored by the Steering Group. The addresses of SC, and NQAAP members are available on request to any participants who wish to express comments or concerns about the scheme and its operation.
